Funny thing from the field trip

I went on the field trip today with work to the zoo. I love rolling my sleeves up and really getting in there with the kids. Because then I get to hear stuff like this:

Leader: Dan, stay here with us. You are so good looking someone might come by and try to snatch you up if we can't see you.

Dan: I didn't hear anything after you said I was good looking.

32?

April is Month of the Military Child. To celebrate we're having a BBQ tomorrow at work. Tomorrow is also my birthday. Cecilia told all the kids that the BBQ is in honor of my birthday tomorrow, not month of the military child.

They took it and ran like wild fire. I've gotten pictures, cards, well wishes and questions. I'll scan some of the cute cards tomorrow.

So far best question from the kids: "Are you going to be 32 tomorrow?"

I'm turning 26.

Wii throw down

This man below is a pro at smack talk. I got emails at work in the middle of the day about how he runs a bowling club for kids and how he could beat me at Wii bowling no problem. Email after email, meeting in the hall one time after another basically saying to me, "Bring it."

It was brought.
the victor
I work for CYS. It's a big world wide, Army supporting company. I really like working for them. I'm pretty sure some of the reason is because of people like Tom. Tom is a 62 year old, tennis playing, fun loving, veteran and CYS employee.
waiting on the bench

Since Tom is a tennis champ, he thought it would be fun to challenge me and 2 other Army wives to a Wii Sports off. Oh, Tom. Wii isn't like real sports.

Bring it on.

defeat

He did get a knock out on Brooke in round one. But she came back to beat him in boxing 3 knock outs to one.

intense boxing
Cecilia beat him 2 out of three in tennis. Which I think really got him down, being a tennis champ and all.

she wins!

I bowled a 190 to his 122. He was such a good sport and agreed to another match soon. (I'll bring my camera for bigger pictures next time, too.)

The best way to appreciate your job is to imagine yourself without one.

While most people are waiting to take vacation and take their Christmas breaks, this is the busiest time of the school year for us (let's not talk about summer). Our center is open from 0600 to 1800 (6 am to 6pm) on days that there is no school. I am working the morning shift into the afternoon with no lunch. Awesome, right?

The amount of work drama that has been going on today is off the charts. I don't think I have enough engery at this point to recount what's been going on. That and if you don't know the people explaining the back story will take longer than anything.

So, I'm around. Just busy at work. I hope to have more posts about more interesting stuff soon.

3 days 'til Christmas!

it's hailing men

I swear it was only hailing at MY HOUSE. Big hail. This sized hail:

Not only was it only hailing at my house, but after it hailed and stopped enough for me to snatch these pictures it started hailing AGAIN. Cecilia and I were going to a dinner party on the same night as hail night. As soon as it cleared up we loaded the car and it started hailing and raining HARDER and SIDEWAYS.

Once the hail stopped we decided to brave the monsoon type rain to make it to our friend's house because she swore it rained "maybe a drop" but was really windy where she was not 10 miles away.

I kid you not, as soon as we got out of Bressanvido and passed through Pioanella the roads were dry. The traffic lights weren't out. No other cars had their headlights on. The sky even had blue spots in it like pregnant pee stick the ho bag the sky is.

The kids went back to school today. This is one of the happiest days of the whole entire year for me. We spent all day cleaning the center and getting things organized. I love getting things organized. I really should have taken before and after pictures. Blast me and my too late thinking.

Happy Monday. :)

Yesterday at the zoo

Yesterday I got to go on the field trip with the kids to the zoo. Apparently this zoo is 2 towns over from my house and I had no idea. It was super cute.

All of our kids are supposed to wear the bright yellow shirts we provide (as do the adults) so we can easily spot our kids out of the crowds.

This llama either just had a baby girl or just fathered a baby girl. See that pink bow? Italian decorate their houses and cars with these at times of celebrations. Pink for girls, blue for boys and white for weddings.

There she is in there.

This little pony was definitely a boy and definitely sweet.

See this kid? We had this conversation when we first got off the bus:

Kid: Do you have a boyfriend?
Me: I have a husband.
Kid: Good. Because I have a girlfriend.
Me: Well, I'm glad we got that out of the way.

It's a good thing I didn't put my non-existent moves on an 11-year-old. Ladies, he's taken.

SAS Carnevale

Every summer at the childcare center where I work we receive college interns from the States to help us with our all day camps.

Yesterday was their last day. We had a BBQ and carnevale (Italian of course).

Sweet faces, no? The kids put on a show of songs with sign language. All summer they've been learning and signing these songs.

Next week is going to be crazy without the interns help. We're going to have all these rug rats and no college-aged buffer. I'm guessing with the hubs gone and the interns gone my mental health number is going to be 111 out of 100.

Much prayer is appreciated.

2 conundrum Kevin

So. I have two cameras. One broke. (Y’all know about that. I whined about it here.) I charged up my other one and was taking pictures of all kinds of stuff. While take pictures I was thinking, “Man, I’m a crazy pie. Why did I even buy that other camera? This one is ALL the time taking photos. And when I press the power button the lens actually OPENS. It’s ten times better than my ol’mailed in camera!”

And then I went to plug it in and the computer didn’t pick up that it was plugged in. It had no IDEA there was a camera that wanted to download it’s pictures on there. I kept turning the camera on and off and off and on to encourage it to be found. But it would not be found. It was like Kevin in UP to that old explorer guy with the little mustache. No matter how many talking dogs I trained to FIND the camera it REFUSED to be found.

When Aimee was here she had a cool memory card USB reader thingy. You put your memory card in there and plug it in and it FINDS your pictures like *snap* that. I went to the PX to find one of these. (I’m out of the loop here in Italy on the fancy computermajigs.) But here is where my story gets more complex. Because the USB guy turned out to be MY Kevin from UP. I couldn’t find her or her babies anywhere. After MINUTES of searching and even asking some Army guys I knew for help, I sill couldn’t find it.

That is my camera conundrum. I want to go to MediaWorld or maybe Emisferro to find one, but that leads me to my two conundrum deal. I’m working a LOT this week. Like, 12 hours on Wednesday and 8 hours the days before that and 7 hours a day after that. I know to Army people (like my Hubs) who work 16 hour days that’s not a big deal. My husband is all the time working 16 hour days then drinking beers at night like it’s nothing. But my little part-time self is used to working 5 hours a day. I’m used to waking up and drinking coffee on my balcony while reading scripture to get myself ready to face those 5 kid and parent filled hours. Plus the Hubs is coming home on 12 hour Wednesday. And we go to France this weekend!

All of that to say I don’t think I’ll have time to find my computer camera Kevin this week.
